Johann Christoph Pezel (also Petzold) ( 1639 -- Bautzen, 13 October 1694) was a German violinist, trumpeter, and composer. He lived at Leipzig from 1661 to 1681, with an interruption in 1672, when he entered an Augustinian monastery in Prague, which however he left soon after to become a Protestant. His later years were spent at Bautzen, where (as at Leipzig) he was in municipal employment as Stadtpfeifer and Stadtmusicus. He was renowned as a violinist and clarinet player and published between 1669 and 1686 a considerable number of collections, chiefly of instrumental music, such as Musica vespertina lipsica (1669), Musicalische Seelenerquickungen (1675), Deliciae musicales, oder Lustmusik (1678), Musica curiosa lipsiaca (1686), etc.; also some sacred vocal music and theoretical works. He was influential in the evolution of instrumental forms and the style of orchestral writing.
Tiburtio Massaino, also Massaini (Cremona, before 1550 -- Piacenza or Lodi, after 1608) was an Italian composer. Augustinian friar in Piacenza he became maestro di cappella at S Maria del Popolo in Rome in 1571. He moved to Modena in 1578, Lodi in 1580 and Salò in 1587 before arriving in Innsbruck at the service of Archduke Ferdinand II in 1589-90. He is registered then in Salzburg in 1591 in Prague where he met Philippe de Monte till 1594 when he left to Piacenza and Cremona. He was again in Piacenza in 1598 before being maestro idi cappella in Lodi (1600--08). Adriano Banchieri reports he was maestro di cappella in Piacenza in 1609.
Georg Daniel Speer (ochrzcz. 2 lipca 1636 we Wrocławiu - zm. 5 października 1707 w Göppingen) - niemiecki kompozytor i pisarz. Był synem wrocławskiego kuśnierza. Naukę rozpoczął we wrocławskim Gimnazjum św. Marii Magdaleny, gdzie uczył się przez kilka lat, ale po śmierci rodziców znalazł się w sierocińcu, skąd uciekł. Nie wiadomo, gdzie zyskał edukację muzyczną. Rozpoczął życiową wędrówkę, w trakcie której znalazł się na Słowacji, na Węgrzech i w Rumunii. Możliwe, że w 1664 przebywał w Stuttgarcie i w Tybindze, natomiast pewne jest, że od 1667 działał w Göppingen jako muzyk kościelny i nauczyciel. Poświęcił się również literaturze (głównie kroniki i powieści awanturnicze).
