I heard I was born in the beginning of summer
And mum's excitement was over the top
After trying to decide for a long time they came up with my name
Which comes from their hope that I will be someone who "Walks a straight path that I believe in"

As long as I can remember we were never wealthy
I was always envious of my friends' bikes and toys
Mum looked troubled and said "sorry" to me over and over again
And I remember crying on and on next to her

Dear mother, you forgave everything about me, believed in me and covered me
You gave me everything without resentment
Dear mother, I kept living as I wanted having no idea at all !

I misunderstood what "strong" meant and ended up fighting all the time doing bad
I was so much trouble just playing around
I remember when I snuck inside the house in the middle of the night
And I found dinner laid out on the small table
I denied how weak I was and was always full of excuses
I didn't do anything with my days, just lazing around
I would drink my self away and fall asleep at dawn
And mum would head out to the dark morning city

Dear mother, there are so many things I should've have said to you
Words I should never have spoken
And I just spat them at you trampling over your heart
But mother, you never changed and still kept loving me
You warmth is like the sunset and your kindness like the deep ocean
Wrapping all of me up in your love

The Sunset I used to watch as you piggy backed me
It's still painting the city red today
My stubbornness, selfishness and lies
There was love to cover all of that

I am so blessed to be born by you
I've only just realized that now as I'm so stupid
During a quite spring morning a new life was born
A little gem that laughs just like you
I want her to become someone who has strength in her kindness
So I named her after your favorite flower
