Interview with Branford Marsalis

This is an interview I did with legendary musician Branford Marsalis in support of his album 'Songs of Mirth and Melancholy' and his concert appearance at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.

In this interview we talk about the album, the concert, his creative process, the shallowness of modern American culture, reality TV, his transition from side man to band leader, his stint on The Tonight Show, competing with his own past, the importance of education, the influence of his parents and more.
