New Mastersounds - Nervous (raw mix)

Kay-Dee Volume is a continuously mixed compilation of tracks collecting releases, as well as soon to be vinyl releases, from Kenny and Kebs soulful enterprise. This time round they focus heavily on the late 70s underground soul sound, with some of the best and rarest tunes in this style out for the first time. You are also getting a dash of hard edged Deep Funk, and a beautiful soulful ballad written and performed by our good friend Ricky Calloway. Again Kenny has worked his magic on the original master tapes to bring you a much better sound quality than on the original issues. Among the selections, Volume 2 features a recording by a young Patrick Adams, playing in a very new jack swing sound for 1969, and if that sounds anachronistic consider Adams fellow band mate: horn player Ramon Sweat, none other than Keith Sweats younger brother. The Now-Again Super Strut re-mix is featured here. The obscure Chosen Few Bands What It Takes to Live, the 7 Miles Per Hour Bands Latin Freak, and the Spade Brigades Im Your Man, all big spins for Keb in the past few years see their first issue here. Five sides from Florida grace this CD, Clarence Reids much loved Masterpiece and Phillip Wrights massive rare groover Keep Her Happy should catch eyes, while a new recording by Kay-Dee artist Rickey Calloway shows the quality this veteran vocalist still delivers. Gary Davis Remember Me and Family Of Eves I want To Be Loved By You are featured here as Volume 2 takes the listener through a few proto house rarities close to Kennys heart. Mellow Madness Save The Youth sees its first issue here and along with MUGOs Organize, the two tracks deliver a message of salvation and unity through music As Rickey Calloway says in the albums notes, I feel were giving people encouragement through our music.
