Russian born and educated Jakob "Jacques" Gordon was Concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and leader of the Gordon String Quartet. In 1930: Jacques Gordon 1st violin, Edwin Edeler 2nd violin, Joseph Vieland viola and Nahoum Benditsky (later Naoum Benditzky) cello. In the late 30s: Gordon 1st violin, David Sackson 2nd violin, William Lincer viola, Benditsky cello. Fritz Magg later succeeded Benditsky and Samuel Weiss, Sackson. On this impossibly noisy and lackadaisically pressed Schirmers Library Set No. 13 recording: Jacques Gordon 1st violin, Samuel Weiss 2nd violin, William Lincer viola, Fritz Magg cello, with Kay Rickert 3rd violin. Gordon conducted the Chicago WPA Orchestra during 1930s. He died of stroke in 1948. Two 12" 78rpm records.
