Labor of Love

The Christmas Story is beautiful in that God sent his only begotten Son to save us from our sins. However, many don't realize that the Christmas Story, although beautiful in its purpose and its outcome, was a dirty and desperate story consisting of two teenagers who were alone, scared, away from home, and delivering their first born in a cold cave on a hillside.

The Christmas story has been romanticized in movies, songs, pictures, etc. and we have come to believe that it was simply a "silent night" and everything just happened easily, perfectly, and peacefully. We need to be reminded that it wasn't that simple.

In this video, I wanted to demonstrate (with video and song) the "labor of love" that was put in by both Mary and Joseph. Their job was not easy, but their faith, determination, and perseverence was crucial in the Christmas story.

This is the video that I used to sum-up my lesson on 12/19/2010. I took scenes from the "Nativity Story" and the song "Labor of Love" (by Andrew Peterson and sung by Jill Phillips). Enjoy!
