Liposuction, also known as liposculpture, is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. During the past decade, liposuction, which is also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy," has benefited from several new refinements. Most patients will get what is known as tumescent technique liposuction. This is where a fluid is injected into the fat so there is less bleeding and less pain when the fat is removed. Often times this fat can then be used for transfer into different areas of the body. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that don't respond to traditional weight-loss methods.
The most important factor with liposuction is not really the type of liposuction method but the skill of the surgeon. Dr. Kim has been in practice since 1999 and has performed thousands of cosmetic procedures in that time.
