A much anticipated, all new recordings from HOTEL MEXICO.
Two years since the release of their 1st album, "His Jewelled Letter Box," HOTEL MEXICO has gone international, with a successful North American tour under their belt. Along with high praises from overseas media such as Pitchfork, The FADER and 20jazzfunkgreats, they ranked in with artists such as James Blake and Toro Y Moi on Tower Records' Bounce magazine' s "Our Beautiful Nightmare 2011" list, as well as their "Most Highly Anticipated Artist " list, alongside bands like Cero and Sham Cats.
HOTEL MEXICO garnered immediate attention since their cassette tape debut in February 2010, with Snoozer magazine featuring their music on their bonus CD in April, and the band opening up for the UK act The xx' s Kyoto show in May. Their debut mini-album "His Jewelled Letter Box" was taken up by overseas music media such as Pitchfork and The FADER, and was followed by a new single release exclusively on DIESEL:U:MUSIC. In 2012 UK label Double Denim released a 7" single which sold out; the song preview on the label's site received over 30,000 plays. In August the band toured the US, including a show at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn.
Featuring atmospheric synth sound and falsetto vocals, "His Jewelled Letter Box" was a masterpiece of "dream pop" music, placing them alongside bands such as Washed Out and Toro Y Moi, making Hotel Mexico the Japanese representative of the "chillwave" scene.
With their new album "Her Decorated Post Love," the band brings forth new aspect of their music. With new approaches to their vocal style, current fans will find this album fresh, and new fans will find a highly rich and sophisticated pop album. From gentle, ambient pop to a mid-tempo track with light guitar strokes reminiscent of Aztec Camera (but updated to 2013), the album defies genre and is proof of the band' s musical versatility.
