Peter Marsh is an ethnomusicologist in Ulaanbaatar.
(He lives in Calfolnia now, and teaching music at California State University)
"She set the standard for what "Long Song" could be in a modern society. Like a Dolly Parton, she came from the countryside and adapted strong countryside traditions to a modern stage, to modern life."
Marsh once asked Norovbanzad what she thought about Mongolia's young musicians experimentating with her work.
"She said she wants to stay modern. She thinks that music needs to speak to the new generations and that these older forms of music can very well speak to the new generations."
