In this video, John Patitucci teaches you a double stop exercise. A double stop is where you play two notes at the same time on the bass. Generally, when you play double stops, you look for places where you can play both open strings or at least one open string to make it easier.

John has wrote a piece called, "Moon and Sun", in the key of D minor, which is a nice, open key for double bass. The piece has a minor section and a major section. The reason why he includes this in his online jazz bass curriculum is because often times, bassists have to play 10ths, 5ths, and more, There are several intervals that sound great on double bass.
