French Fries - Yo Vogue

Even at the ripe young age of twenty, French Fries is already an incredibly accomplished producer. With numerous releases and remixes on France's Kitsuné, YounGunz and his own ClekClekBoom Recordings (to name only a handful of the labels that have supported this young, bright mind), it is clear that great things await this fresh and terrifically industrious talent.

"Yo Vogue" is French Fries' first single out on Dirtybird. Despite potential overuse of the word "Bitch" (last year's "Champagne," ClekClekBoom's virgin release, is not far off, lyrically), the feel of this track is sparse and nasty. A perfect example of the exciting "Paris Club Music" sound (is that even a thing yet? You heard it here first, kids!), sitting somewhere between juke, bass and garage, or pitched down Baltimore and stripped down hip-hop, "Yo Vogue" fits in seamlessly with Dirtybird's smart ghetto-tech vibes, yet holds its own with ease. The dynamic yet incredibly playable remixes attest to this: one from Claude VonStroke himself bouncing along merrily, the other from Christian Martin bass music alias "Leroy Peppers" bringing some darkness and double-timed high hats. Win-Win-Win. Pick it up on March 14.

"Yo Vogue" is hot property and i'm really excited to release it. The half time drop, the chopped and screwed vocal, the stuttering bass kicks, the creepy moog on top - it's simple and complex at the same time and it wrecks shop whenever it gets played. I did a remix on the B side giving it some db flavor and dirtybird newcomer Leroy Peppers lays out his own bay area skeeze with hot sauce on top. Watch yer bass bins!
