I don't know who had the idea of putting these two greats together but I have to say this was truly genius. Voices so different and yet, blend so well that they touch your soul and make it soar with the beauty that they created. To me, that's what beautiful music and beautiful singing is all about. "Over The Rainbow" brings out the innocent child in all of us.
The "Over The Rainbow" duet of Johnny Mathis and Ray Charles was first released on Ray's CD entitled "Genius Loves Company" in 2004.
The same "Over The Rainbow" duet of Johnny Mathis and Ray Charles was released on Johnny's CD entitled "Isn't It Romantic: The Standards Album" in 2005 which you can easily purchase at Amazon. I highly recommend the entire CD but you can also purchase the MP, alone, as well.
When, the wonderful Ray Charles passed away in 2004, this song was played at his funeral which Johnny Mathis attended. Apparently, it must have been one of Ray's favorites as well.
Music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg.
"Over The Rainbow" can be seen and heard on 19Rebel57's channel as a solo by Johnny Mathis himself in actual video format, along with another song, "Ease On Down The Road." There are several "live" videos from the past of Johnny Mathis to be seen and enjoyed there if you haven't been to her channel already.
This one is dedicated to my granddaughter, Brianna. I love you, Bri.
