Birth of Don Carlos (Carlos, rey emperador)

On 8 July 1545 in Valladolid, 17-year-old Princess Maria Manuela gives birth to Carlos, firstborn son of her husband, 18-year-old Prince Philip (later Philip II of Spain), first grandchild of Emperor Charles V. The childbirth is a horror and Maria Manuela dies 4 days after, due to a haemorrhage.
