DJ Meho - Le lacrime di pagliacco

OK, I could probably use this tune as my ID card. It has it all: psychedelic disneyfied jazz riffs, righteous funk grooves and some awesome arabic tunes. It's like a piece of my soul laid out for anyone to sample.

The beats in this song are sourced from some choice funk of the seventies. One break comes from Leo Martin's awesome "Ima vremena" written by Vojkan Borisavljević (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asoi09IDcRE) and the other three are from Curtis Mayfield's enormous "Move on up" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z66wVo7uNw). If I may notice, these are some of the finest breakbeats known to man.

The jazzy grooves are all sourced from "Pink Elephants on Parade", that song from Dumbo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJv2Mugm2RI) scored by Oliver Wallace. Never in prior human history was an inebriation scene scored to a more appropriate piece of music. The arabic groove is again from Farid Al-Atrache's mighty "Hebeena Hebeena" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zng2U4TVsX0) and there are some stock beats, some stock bass, scratches stolen from DJ Premier and a drum beat stolen from Samira Tawfic's rendition of Balllah Tsobo Hal Gahwa (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUxDvilu4iU). A lot of powerful stuff that I hope I gave some meaningful context to. The image is, of course one of Jerry Lewis and you will remember he made a film called "The day the clown cried" once. A film he tried to conceal for the rest of his life. Probably what I should do with my music too. Enjoy.
