This is my entry for the Ableton/Soundcloud Beat the Clock 24h Contest.

I started off by playing around with the chords from Junior Boys track. Ended up cutting out just the first chord and re-used it (G-minor) to get a more progressive sound. Then I took the original chord progression and reversed it. Added some distortion to it and used it in the bridge-part.

I really liked the hard progressive bass build from Junior Boys, so I mixed that in to use in my bridge.

I sliced up the vocal track from Junior Boys to pieces. I reversed parts of the vocals and added distortion to it which shows up here and there to slide up to the different parts.

I recorded an adaptive bass drum from my Gameboy, and added several own 4-bit/8bit sequences which added my style to the mix. I use two FX-sends, "Auto Filter - Filter Delay" and "Eight note Pingpong Resonators", which I reuse on several channels by modifying the envelope.

One of the M83's synths is speeded up and appears in the middle of the track, where I mix it in with percussion and hihats from Nosay Thing.

The vocal sample from Nosaj Thing is also mixed in as an effect and I use panning to make it more effective.

I used a couple of midi-channels with drums from Stylus (Spectrasonics) and added some extra percussion from my Gameboy. I use the bass drum from Nosaj Thing.

I went nuts playing with this one! Hope you enjoy it!
