This is a video of the great composer Beethoven. Among all composers there are many talented musicians, really gifted composers...but still among greats Beethoven must stand out as one of the elites of the group.
Here I have put together a video with a lesser known symphony of Beethoven's, at least by the general population who doesn't hear or take the time to listen to more varied music or include classical music in their repertoire of music from iTunes or wherever.
This is Beethoven's 7th Symphony, and in particular the fast, exciting and inspiring 4th movement, Allegro con brio as it is called. This particular arrangement came under the gifted conductor, Sir Thomas Beecham, along with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Here he demonstrates a faster tempo, and it's so exciting, so powerful, so wonderfully done, that even the audience stands and cheers at the end. Those who have been to performances of symphonies and orchestras know how exceptional this really is.
An interesting story about Sir Thomas is everyone addresses him formally, as Mr. Beecham, or with the "sir" as well...but Sir Thomas Beecham believes that there is something higher than him in this world, and it is the music itself, and the orchestra, to whom he humbly bows; and the orchestra also gets to refer to him as "Tommy."
I hope you like this piece, and find it shows how terrific classical music can be!
