Shugo Tokumaru - Paparazzi

Part of the final project for my Colonial Identities in Japanese Literature class.

I wanted to illustrate the complexities of the Japan-United States relationship and the evolving ways that violence has affected this dynamic. Through making a music video which incorporates a basic historical narrative, I tried to better understand and articulate contemporary Japanese national identity.

The project is meant to explore this identity through the lens of globalization, specifically in terms of Japan's relationship with the United States since WWII.
