Fully trusting birth can require your provider and birth support team to trust birth as well.
⋄
Often times, when a birthing person is not sure on what’s happening, or if something is normal, they will look at the provider and/or doula for reassurance.
⋄
Sometimes it just a gaze, or immediate eye contact where the team can calm the birther by just a simple head nod or saying “it’s ok, this is normal.”
⋄
And the birther will follow the energy that is put out.
⋄
She can give a sigh of relief, trust her team and continue birthing her baby.
⋄
Even when baby needs a little help coming around, the team stays calm, keeps baby near the parents and keeps the baby’s cord intact which will continue to provide baby with oxygen during some breaths given by the midwife.
⋄
♥️Hows the Energy?
♥️How do we make the parents feel?
♥️Is there trust in the process?
♥️Are we working out of nervousness or confidence?
⋄
My love for midwifery care deepens when I see how calmly things can be handled instead of cutting the cord, removing the baby from the parents, and inducing anxiety amongst everyone.
⋄
She CAN birth of her own, and she did, but she can also look to calm/confident energy when help is needed.
⋄
And daddy gets to engage in the process, shedding happy tears.
