The Harmonicats: Peg O' My Heart (Fisher and Bryan)

Jerry Murad's Harmonicats perform "Peg O' My Heart." The Harmonicats -- and American harmonica-based trio --originally were named The Harmonica Madcaps, and the group consisted of Jerry Murad (chromatic lead harmonica), Bob Hadamik (bass harmonica), Pete Pedersen (chromatic), and Al Fiore, (chord harmonica). They reformed later as a trio with Murad, Fiore, and bass harmonica player Don Les. Pederson and Gail Wallace remained contributors to the group throughout its existence, working on arrangements and occasionally recording. Their 1947 recording of "Peg O' My Heart" (Mercury Records - originally Vitacoustic Records catalog number 1) brought them to public attention and sold over one million copies by 1950, reaching #1 on the U.S. Billboard chart.

This track is taken from Volume 12 of "William B. Williams: Make Believe Ballroom," a set of boxed LPs developed by Multilingua, Inc., and produced and distributed by American Express sometime in 1984.

William B. Williams (August 6, 1923 - August 3, 1986), was an American disc jockey on New York City radio station WNEW for over four decades. He hosted the popular program "Make Believe Ballroom." Williams is particularly noted for coining the title "Chairman of the Board" for Frank Sinatra.
