LABOUR AND DELIVERY

Hi guys! Thanks for clicking on my channel. I'm a new mama and wanted to document my journey for you since Youtube has been a lifesaver for me throughout this process.

My husband and I decided to sit down and film the labour and delivery of our sweet baby boy, Kai Oliver. We had a planned home birth with 3 midwives present. I was in early labour (not painful at all) for about 6 hours before active labour set in and I could no longer talk through my contractions. Once that started, it continued for about 14 hours until our baby was born!

My husband and I completed the Bradley Method & Hypnobirthing courses and loved them both. We went into this extremely prepared (it really eased my mind to do as much research as possible). My favourite part was being in the tub because the contractions were completely manageable but the most difficult aspect for me was actually birthing his head. It's also worth mentioning that I didn't tear at all, although I had a couple "grazes" (like a skinned knee in a sense). I kept asking the midwives to do everything they possibly could to limit my tearing so they used quite a lot of tactics for that. I had planned a water birth but that didn't work out so I ended up having him in my bed, laying on my side, choke-holding my husband (haha). Honestly guys, I'm not here to scare you and tell you that birth was extremely painful, but it had it's moments. All-in-all, it was a beautiful, bonding experience between my husband and I and now I'm mama to the most beautiful little boy I've ever laid eyes on.
