French, Frith, Kaiser & Thompson - Surfin' USA

instrumentally note-for-note perfect, the vocals dripping with venomous contempt - or something - this once-in-a-while supergroup lays waste to the Beachboys' classic (as ripped off from Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode"). Richard Thompson and the background chorus destroys any hope of lightheartedness, as does Kaiser's snarling vocals. Beautiful interpretive work of pure sarcasm.
