Sex - Scratch My Back .1971

Sex - Sex (1971)
Sex is the debut album by the Canadian Hard-Rock band Sex.
They come from the French part of Canada, but as most bands from the time they sing in English. As the name of the band shows, most of the lyrics talked explicitly about sex. They never got much attention as the critics didn't like people not singing in French there. Blues was also a major influence to them.
"Scratch My Back" opens the album very well, it has a strength that most songs fail to have. it's a really groovy song. I love the guitar work of "Not Yet", it has a kick-ass solo. "Doctor" is based on Blues. this is the song that best reflect the use of blues in this album, and how Hard-Rock can successfully use it has an advantage. The name of this song is awesome "I Had To Rape Her", it sounds so cool. the vocals in this song are especially interesting. "Come, Wake Up" is an instrumental song, containing a guitar solo and a flute (Jethro Tull like) solo. "Try" has nothing to do with the previous songs (maybe a little with "Doctor"), it is a Blues song, not a Blues-Rock song, it is pure blues (and I'm sorry for the repetition). They use an harmonica to complement it.
The photo-cover shows the band members running semi-naked in a wheat field.
