Galactic Attack. Really? Galactic Attack? In all honesty I am very glad that this game got localized, but did they have to give it a gay name?
For those who don't know, this game is actually called Rayforce. In the arcades it has had even more names. In Europe it was called Layer Section, and I believe in Australia it was called Gunlock. This is the first game in the Ray series. The second game is was localized only on the Playstation under it's original name Raystorm. Then the third installment Raycrisis was also on the Playstation. Out of all three, I like this one the best. It's close between this one and Raystorm, but there is just something about this game that grabs me just a little more. The graphics are totally sprite based instead of polygonal, and the sound and music are just perfect. Like most arcade to console ports, the the sound and music are slightly enhanced from the arcade original. The main changes is the music is just a bit less chip tune, and the sound effects are way louder than the arcade. This is good because the sound effects are awesome. Compare it to MAME and you'll find the music is much louder and almost drowns out the sound effects. This game sounds great played at high volume levels.
