Modern Talking fue un dúo alemán de synthpop formado por el cantante Thomas Anders y el productor Dieter Bohlen. Cuenta además con la participación de los cantantes, arreglistas y productores Rolf Köhler, Michael Scholz, Detlef Wiedeke, Birger Corleis, y de Luis Rodríguez y Ralf Stemman en la producción. Han sido clasificados también como Europop. Por ventas, es el grupo más exitoso en Alemania, con más de 120 millones de discos vendidos.1 El estilo musical es el Eurodisco de los 80s, con influencias del folklor bailable alemán conocido como discofox cantado en inglés.

Modern Talking was a German Synthpop duo consisting of Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen. Their music has often been classified as Europop. They have been referred to as Germany's most successful pop duo, and have had a number of hit singles, reaching the top 5 in many countries. Some of their most popular and widely known singles are "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", "You Can Win If You Want", "Cheri, Cheri Lady", "Brother Louie", "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)" and "Geronimo's Cadillac".
Modern Talking worked together from 1984 to 1987, when the band split up. In 1998 they reunited and made a successful comeback, recording and releasing music from 1998 to 2003. To accommodate central European music markets of the late 1990s, they changed their original 1980s mellow Europop sound to up-tempo Eurodance. The duo released singles which again entered the top 10 in Germany and abroad. Some of those singles were "You're My Heart, You're My Soul '98", "Brother Louie '98", and "You Are Not Alone".

ファルセットが特徴的なディスコサウンドで、本国ドイツに留まらず世界でも人気を博す。 1984年の「愛はロマネスク - You're my heart, You're my soul - 」が大ヒットし、日本では鮎川麻弥や麻生真美子＆キャプテンらが同曲をいずれも日本語でカバー。 本国ドイツでは、1985年の「シェリ・シェリ・レディー - Cheri Cheri Lady - 」、1986年の「ブラザー・ルイ - Brother Louie - 」などヒットが続いた。
その後1987年に解散。二人は別々にソロ活動をしていたが、1998年に再結成。7枚目となるアルバム「Back for good」をリリース。1999年には、ワールド・ミュージック・アワードを受賞。2003年に解散。
現在までのアルバム総売上数は8,500万枚以上と、今もなお高い人気を得ており、ドイツ出身のデュオとしては最も成功したと言えるだろう。
Modern Talking est un groupe allemand de disco pop (1982-1987) puis (1998-2003) constitué par Dieter Bohlen et Thomas Anders. À cette époque, l'épopée de la "disco" prend fin. Mais Dieter et Thomas, souhaitent conserver le rythme typique du disco allemand et non de la "dance" music inspirée elle aussi du disco mais avec un rythme un peu plus rapide. Ils ont vendu plus de 120 millions de disques à travers le monde et ils sont, de fait, le groupe qui a le plus vendu de disques en Allemagne.
Modern Talking è il nome di un gruppo musicale tedesco composto da Dieter Bohlen e Thomas Anders.
