Unassisted waterbirth with 3yearold present • Alleingeburt • oassisterad hemförlossning

The informed and planned unassisted waterbirth of our daughter, at our home in Sweden. 30th April 2017.
I have had contractions during the whole day, but they were short and irregular...in the evening at around eight they suddenly got stronger and more intense. i had to be on all fourth on the floor, i jumped into the pool at around 9, the pool was only filled half, as all went so fast and we didnt have enough warm water left.
i couldnt be quiet during transition, making loud noises felt just the right thing to do and most natural. i really experienced the fetal ejaculation reflex, my body was pushing my baby out and there was nothing more for me to do than to surrender and let it happen.
our daughter was born at around 9.15 pm.
she was born in the caul but i ripped it with my fingers when she was crowning.
i didnt tear.
after birth we stayed in the pool for another hour, my legs were shacking and i had strong after pains, so being in the water was relieving.
our daughter began nursing soon after birth.
i moved onto the bed with baby after an hour, the placenta was born three hours after birth, i felt it moving down into my vagina and had to bear down just a little to birth it onto a towel in the bed.
i lost very little blood. birthing the placenta on my own and letting it take its time, was such a calming and grounding experience.
pitty we didnt film it.
our daughter was left connected to her placenta for the first three days after birth, we cut the cord together with her big brother and gave her her name: Eden.
I am grateful to have experienced birth as it is and as it should be.
i am proud that my husband and i choose an undisturbed and peaceful birth for our daughter, that we moved through our fears and choose love and trust.
having our son being part and seeing his sister being born was perfect. he wanted to see the placenta being born as well, but fell asleep before next to me and baby.
our daughter is healthy, perfect and so loved. we are blessed to be a family...
may all families and babies experience peaceful and undisturbed births !
birth is not a medical event!
the "unassisted pregnancy/unassisted birth"-group on fb has helped me immensly to prepare myself for our freebirth.
