Paradise View | (1985)

"Paradise View" is an Okinawan, magic realist film which aims to show that, despite imperial efforts to assimilate Ryukyu people, Okinawan culture differs from Japanese culture. User TR from TimeOut.com describes the film thusly:
"Shot almost entirely in Okinawan dialect, it's a languid tropical fantasy with concealed political teeth."

The movie's soundtrack is by the legendary Haruomi (Harry) Hosono -- "Pacific," "Paraiso," "Bon Voyage Co.," etc.

Uploading an entire movie to YouTube is kind of sleazy, but I want to generate interest in the work of Go Takamine. None of his works are released on DVD (and VHS copies are extremely rare) or watchable on Amazon, Netflix, etc. This was nearly impossible to find.
