Kyodai means brothers in Japanese and that's about as good a clue as you're getting as to who these two producers are, suffice to say they regularly release under a variety of different names for labels such as Compost, Odori and Lovemonk.

On this, their Freerange debut, Kyodai get busy on two original tracks which fuse elements of deep house, melodic techno and afro into a high energy concoction which fits in with the current Freerange sound just perfectly. The lead track entitled Mi Rumba keeps its cards close to it's chest for the first couple of minutes, building a driving, tech groove before revealing its true identity after a dramatic break where detuned percussion and delayed vocal FX bring the track to a standstill. Cowbellmania ensues going headlong into an afro infused groove before the layers of filtering synths build up to the next peak. All in all, a cleverly crafted track that brings familiar elements together to form a driving, floor-filling groove, that's been getting great responses from early plays.
