father always was a little crazy
ma still wears a kaftan and a daisies
me, i wouldn't even smoke a kipper
pals even been known to smoke his slippers

when my younger sister started dating
ma was in the bath hallucinating

we live in a psychedelic land
where the days are never bland
but if you need a hand the doors are open
our life's a curiosity
dad sits up in a tree
asking the cat to get the fireman out again

choking on the smell of marijuana
twenty naked hippies in the parlour
i'm so embarrassed to say
we live in a house called monterey

father's hair hangs by his feet
i hear the people laughing down the street
he doesn't realise they're being cruel
when they say "kiss my arse"
he thinks "that's cool"

holding hands as if they are in heaven
it's been like that since 1967
