We can never discover new oceans unless we have the courage to lose sight of the shore. She chose to have a homebirth for the first time with her fifth baby. Not because her previous experiences of birth were short of magic, but simply because she wanted to.☝🏻that should be sufficient enough for society to accept.

Her eldest and youngest children watched from the side of the bed anxiously where she roared into the pillow on her hands and knees.

You can hear the excitement in her 2 year olds voice as baby emerges from mommy’s womb. Because, well, children are not born with the fear of birth. Fearing birth is learned. This child sees the magic, beauty, excitement, love and utter bliss of giving.

Children can be our greatest teachers in life. And we can teach them that birth is normal. It’s beautiful. It’s transforming. It’s one of the most impactful and glorious moments of our lives.

I’ll never forget my client telling me “I grew up watching my mom sipping her tea so calmly and birthing my brothers and sisters at home. I’m not scared of birth because of her and I want the same for my children.”
