"Happy Landing" is an up-tempo song that was originally slated to be the A-side of the the first single issued from the album, The Fabulous Miracles, it became a strong regional hit in many areas of the country. Under normal circumstances, this song probably would have been a big hit for The Miracles, but, the nation's Dee-Jays decided, seemingly en masse, that the flip side had the better potential to be a big hit. They rejected "Happy Landing," and gave air time to "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" instead. "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" went on to become one of The Miracles biggest and most-covered hits, thus relegating "Happy Landing" forever to the B-side, and it became one of The Miracles' "lost and forgotten" songs. Even among Miracles fans, it's rarely remembered today. In the song, Marv Tarplin's guitar riffs punctuate every second line, while Bobby Rogers, Ronnie White and Claudette Rogers-Robinson join in with their hand claps and trademark harmonies throughout. The group also recorded a live version of "Happy Landing" on their first live album, The Miracles Recorded Live on Stage, in 1963.
Note: On some album labels and liner notes this song is referred to as "(Have A) Happy Landing." The single, which came out before the album reads just "Happy Landing," without the parenthetical intro.
