There she stands in a new & fresh painted look at best weather conditions: An original german pneumatical high-power-siren from times of cold-war.
And some more: This old-school-siren was reactivated with a new important siren-signal: it is the "air raid signal".
This type of siren is called Pintsch/Bamag and it was constructed in the middle of the 60ies. This rare siren was only in use to alerting the voluntary FD in case of fires all the last years. Or it will triggered the fire-alert on every 1st Saturday in a new month. That´s an ordinary siren test in this rural area.
But recently it was converted to trigger a new and important siren-signal: the AIR RAID SIGNAL (1 min hi/low tone). So it had the first run with the new signal since many years on 10-18-2017.
There was also a siren test in whole Bayern at this day! (The test signal is "warning or the air raid signal". Every 6 months is a regularly siren test.)
It is important to warn the population in case of disasters like chemical accidents, storms or other possible dangers.

A big siren fan called "Glockengiesser" made this work come true.

The original diesel engine is not in function inside the siren´s machine room. The necessary compressed air for the pneumatic PiBa-siren will alternatively produced by an electric air-compressor. His location is approx. 350 meters away down in the firehouse. The compressed air with 10 bar will be pumped up by a blue plastic pipe. This blue pipe is laid under the field or meadow and runs in the underground across the field. U can see this pipe connected with the compressor in my video at the end.
The location is in the near of the Chiemsee/Traunstein (Bayern/Germany). There are many other good recordings of this pneumatic siren in action, but only with "fire alert" signal!

We hope that this special siren will do a very good job for many years in the future.
