Mom: "Oh I had such a tough time with you, I had to have..."
They might see mom whisked off to a hospital to birth their baby brother/sister.
Nobody shows a growing girl what birth is
Parents can barely explain puberty and periods.
Menstruation is hushed adverts on TV for sanitary towels with wings and tampon adverts are women leaping in the air joyously.
Puberty is a big fucking secret....
Meanwhile we are taught the doctor knows, the doctor is clever and everybody goes to hospital to have babies.
Birth is primal, instinctual, sensual and spiritual.
To tune out all of the shit you have been told, taught and expected to do.
When you and your society and your people are not sensual, spiritual ...
It is frightening.
Our modern day western culture teaches us we can control everything.
Birth is the anti-thesis to modern western culture.
Birth cannot be controlled it needs the complete relinquishing of control.
A trust, a belief, a complete zone out and zone in.
A deep routed part of women is the animalistic woman that is primal and instinctual, so there can be a battle, an internal battle for women.
I want this, but I am programmed for that.”
