"Dear One, Farewell!", German march-polka composed in 1934 by Herms Niel (1888-1954), with lyrics from an old folk song with the same name (Niel added the name Annemarie between the lines and several lines of his own). Performed by the composer himself and his brass band and sung by the Berlin Municipal Opera Choir. Recorded in Berlin, 1934.
Additional info: song originally has three strophes; all recorded. The main part of the lyrics was written around 1816 and before Niel's arrangement song used to be known also as "Schätzchen, ade". This is one of Herms Niel's biggest hits and it is actually still quite popular in Germany - mostly as "Annemarie-Polka". The recording uploaded here is The original version of the composition and it was made shortly before Niel became a bandmaster in the State Labour Service.
Note: mono recording, from I.Ž. 78rpm record collection; not to be used for commercial purposes.
