雨の夜の花 (Ame no Yo no Hana) --- Teresa Teng

Please enjoy Teresa's performance of a Japanese song, "雨の夜の花 (Ame no Yo no Hana)", meaning "Rainy Night Flower". 西条八十 (Saijyou Yaso) is reported to have prepared (translated and modified) the original lyrics into Japanese lyrics. There are various Japanese lyrics with slight difference in phrases, and 渡辺はまこ (Watanabe Hamako) sang the original Japanese version.
The melody and the lyrics were originated from the Taiwan folk ballad.

Teresa's corresponding Chinese song is "雨夜花 (閩南/福建語) Rainy Night Flower (Min-nan/Hokkien Dialect)".

The following are Terea's song in the Japanese version, with my English translation in the parentheses.

雨の降る 夜に 咲いてる 花は
Ameno furuyoni saiteru hanawa
(The flowers in bloom in the rainy night)

風に ふかれて ほろほろ 落ちる
Kazeni fukarete horohoro ochiru
(Fall silently one by one blown in the wind)

白い 花びら しずくに ぬれて
Shiroi hanabira shizukuni nurete
(The white flower petals are wet with rain)

風の まにまに ほろほろ 落ちる
Kazeno manimani horohoro ochiru
(And fall silently one by one when the wind blows)

更けて さみしい 小窓の 灯り
Fukete samishii komadono akari
(As the night goes on, the light at small window is sad)

花を 泣かせる 鼓弓の 調べ
Hanawo nakaseru kokyuu no shirabe
(The tone of Kokyu (Chinese fiddle) makes flowers cry)

明日は この雨 やむやもしれぬ
Asuwa konoame yamuyamo shirenu
(It may stop raining tomorrow)

散るを いそぐな 可愛い 花よ
Chiruwo isoguna kawaii hanayo
(Dear flowers, please do not haste falling)

雨の降る 夜に 咲いてる 花は
Ameno furuyoni saiteru hanawa
(The flowers in bloom in the rainy night)

風に ふかれて ほろほろ 落ちる
Kazeni fukarete horohoro ochiru
(Fall silently one by one blown in the wind)

In Japan, Watanabe Hamako (渡辺はま子) also sang the same song, with slightly different lyrics.

雨の降る夜に咲いてる花は
濡れて揺られてほろほろ落ちる

紅がにじんで 紫ぬれて
風のまにまに ほろほろ落ちる

明日はこの雨 やむかもしれぬ
散るをいそぐな 可愛い花よ

雨に咲く花 しんからいとし
君を待つ夜を ほろほろ落ちる
